It boasts a great Web browser, and its curated Android app store includes most of the big must-have apps (such as Netflix, Pandora, and Hulu). The Fire has an ultra-affordable price tag, and the screen quality is exceptional for the price.” - CNET

“The Fire gives me the features I want at a price point that’s less than half of the iPad 2. I can check my email, browse the Internet, maybe play a few games, most importantly, I can read magazines in color on a Kindle.” – Gizmodo

“The Fire is a marvelous device.” – Chicago Sun Times

“Amazon’s Kindle Fire is likely to be the first successful tablet not sold by Apple, and there are several good reasons for it: the low price of $199, the convenient, portable size of 7 inches, and a rich catalog of books, movies and music offered through Amazon’s Web-based services.” – Ars Technica

“There’s a new mayor in Droidville. But this guy didn’t roll into town with pomp and circumstance. He strolled down Main Street and simply offered more than any other candidate, extolling a plan based on down-to-earth sensibility and affordability. Meet the Kindle Fire.” – Seeking Alpha

Price Reduction on the Popular Canon EOS 7D!

Canon EOS 7D 180-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera - Black

Canon EOS 7D 180-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera – Black

I own a Canon EOS 7D which I bought in April 2010 and I am very pleased with it. It is a pro level digital SLR that offers a lot of extras beyond the basics functions expected of a digital SLR.

The Canon EOS 7D is a marked improvement over previous Canon models with a lot of new features such as “… an electronic level, a RAW button, and a new Multi-function button for quick, programmable access to various functions. And don’t forget the new 19-point autofocus system, complete with a new LCD viewfinder display overlay, complete with a grid, obviating the need for interchangeable screens…”

“The Canon 7D is designed for speed, with dual DIGIC 4 chips to speed processing of these large 14-bit files, as well as keep up with the shutter’s 8-frame-per-second top speed. Even the sensor had to be tweaked to enable such speed, with an 8-channel readout to more quickly draw the image off the sensor.” (SOURCE: Imaging-Resource.com)

When the Canon EOS 7D first came out the list price was $1799. You can now get this popular digital camera for under $1500.

Affordable Point & Shoot Cameras

Check out this week’s camera, camcorder and digital photo offers at BestBuy.com.

Gone are the days of picking the “right” camera and then finding the right film to load it. The advent of the digital camera has made the process of taking picture a lot easier. No more loading of rolls of films, no more removal of said rolls and no more waiting at the photo center for the developed images.

Today’s compant point and shoot cameras are small, sleek and easy to carry around. Some will even fit nicely in your pocket.

Today’s cameras give you the opportunity to take a picture, view the picture and send it immediately to a family member or friend. Nothing to take out and send to the photo center unless you want some custom work done with the photos you have taken.

Most cameras come with a software that allows you to load the images from the camera to your computer where you can manage, edit, store and share your photos.

If you are considering buying a point and shoot camera here are a few suggestions:

1. In the digital camera world Canon and Nikon are the “big” boys. They make very good cameras and generally offer better support for their products. However there are other manufacturers that can compete with the “big” boys in the point and shoot market. Sony, Panasonic, Olympus, Samsung, Fujifilm, Kodak and Pentax have a range of cameras worth looking at.

2. Greater megapixels cameras don’t necessarily equate to better photos. It simply means bigger photo files or images. If you don’t see yourself making 11 X 17 photos on a printed page, then take the lesser megapixel camera you can afford. The size of the camera’s image sensor is a better indicator of photo quality. Here, bigger is definitely better.

3. Read as many reviews as you can about the camera you are considering. Amazon, BEST BUY, WalMart, CostCo and other retailers allow customers to rate and review the products they buy. This is a valuable source of unbiased opinions that you can use as a guide. Expert opinions on cameras and other consumer products can be found at ConsumerReports.org, CNET.com, imaging-resource.com and dpreview.com.
